General Tips

  • When steaming cabbage, reduce the odour by throwing some bread, a walnut or a sprig of parsley into the water
  • Do not overcook cabbage; cook until just tender
  • Do not prepare red cabbage until just before serving; shred and use in salads and slaws, or boil, microwave, stuff or steam
  • Preserve cabbage by making sauerkraut
